Response from John Caldecott

Hi All,

ABC Shops are selling a video called "A Force More Powerful: A Century of Nonviolent Conflict." It covers the story behind the following world defining events:
India: Defying the Crown. 1930-31
Nashville: We Were Warriors. 1960-61
Poland: We've Caught God by the Arm. 1980-1981
South Africa: Freedom of Our Lifetime. 1985-1986
Denmark: Living with the Enemy. 1940-1945
Chile: Defeat of a Dictator. 1983-88.
Suggest you get a copy but as an example it made we realise that "We the People" have the power if we go about it the right way. The majority of Australians are against the sale of Telstra. It is about time we started using our economic muscle to create a change in direction away from the market fundamentalists.
We need to use "Non-violent" techniques to create a popular citizen's revolt against the Sale of Testra and of what remains of public assets. The first suggestion that I have is that we begin a "Phone Freedom Day" by those who oppose the sale of Telstra ie use of any sort of phone on the nominated day is ideally kept to zero or at least minimal use. Aim to do this at least once a month and increase frequency until "We the People" secure Telstra as a public asset for all time. A further basis of this popular protest is to protest against the recent price rises and the need for all prices to be world's best practice based upon the number of hours of work that ordinary citizens need to work to pay for their telecommunications costs.
A critical objective is that referendums should be held for the sale of any national asset.
